FACTS ABOUT HOMEOSTATIC FORCEPS

·    Haemostatic forceps for meant to hold
·    Haemostatic should not be employed to clamp almost any tubing
·    Haemostatic crack within the box lock area
·    Haemostatic jaws should fit together instead of overlap
·    Haemostatic should not be sterilized with ratchets closed

POINTS OF INSPECTION

·    Tips
Serrated haemostatic forceps should meet equally without having overlay.
Haemostatic tissue forceps teeth at tips must be present, straight and interfit precisely.
·    Jaws (Inspect jaws for blood stains)
·    Box Lock (Inspect for cracks on both sides of hinged area. This is the most typical spot to find blood.
·    After Operative Care
Always separate rings completely by opening ratchets. Never allow blood to dry around the instrument. To prevent blood from drying soap instruments in enzymatic solution or place a moist towel saturated with water in the instruments.
